FAQ’s:

What does mission trip insurance cover?

MAT mission trip insurance covers medical expenses, emergency medical evacuation, repatriation, accidental death and dismemberment, and certain travel-related losses such as baggage delay or loss. MTA’s coverage is specifically designed for churches, missionaries, and short-term mission teams, providing protection for medical treatment abroad, emergency evacuation, and safe return home when necessary.

Does MTA include emergency medical evacuation?

Yes. MTA includes emergency medical evacuation when medically necessary. Unlike many providers that outsource evacuation to third-party brokers, MTA works alongside a sister company that operates ICU-configured medical aircraft. In qualifying emergencies, response can begin quickly, with wheels up in as little as 60 minutes when conditions require it.

What is repatriation coverage?

Repatriation coverage helps return a traveler home in the event of serious illness, injury, or death. This can include returning remains to the United States or transporting a patient back to their home country once medically stable. MTA provides up to $250,000 in repatriation coverage as part of its standard benefits.

How much does mission trip insurance cost?

Mission trip insurance through MTA starts at approximately $3.75 per person, per day. Final cost depends on trip length and destination. Coverage is designed to be affordable for churches and mission organizations while still providing generous medical and evacuation protection.

Is mission trip insurance required for short-term teams?

Many churches and mission organizations strongly recommend or require insurance for international travel. Even when not required, coverage is highly encouraged due to the financial risk of overseas medical care and emergency evacuation. Mission trip insurance protects both the traveler and the sending organization.

What makes MTA different from other mission trip insurance providers?

MTA was created specifically to serve churches and missionaries. Coverage is tailored for ministry travel, not general tourism. MTA provides U.S.-based 24/7 support, does not bid out evacuations during emergencies, and partners with experienced medical underwriters and aviation professionals. The focus is not just coverage, but care.

Does MTA cover domestic mission trips?

Coverage is primarily designed for international travel. For domestic trips, availability may vary depending on circumstances. Churches can contact MTA directly to determine the appropriate coverage for their team.
